welcome to my ‘why…’

Mama, wife, friend, sister, daughter, dog mom + now, owner of the nook! Since becoming a mom back in early 2020 at the brink of worldwide pandemic, I never realized how important it was have support as a parent. Somewhere to go where you felt like you belong, a safe space that was truly designed for you + them. A play space that wasn’t just focused on the children.

In those early postpartum days, I used to dream of a place I could take my baby where mom buns, leggings + spit-up-adorned clothes were the dress code, where I could connect and meet new mom friends. A space that felt like home, but without the laundry, dishes, dog hair and (definitely without) cocomelon playing in the background. A space that was screen-free, calming and enjoyable for me, while safe and developmentally appropriate for both my baby and toddler. A space where they could roam free while they had the time of their lives (but wait, are we Disney World?) I would pack up my toddler and drive 40 minutes to the nearest play space just to fill up their ‘tired tank’ to guarentee me a glorious afternoon nap. Then I got sick of driving and decided I would do this right in my own community. Because if I needed it, there was sure as heck other parents that would benefit from this too.

As an occupational therapist, I’ve always been passionate about early childhood development and since becoming a mom, I’ve become increasingly more passionate about maternal mental health + well being. Because, man it’s important + it’s not talked about nearly enough. My passions collided and I became my #1 customer. Every nook and cranny of my space + programming is designed with so much love, purpose + intent.

Que, the nook!

My vision at the nook is to create a space where everyone feels safe, supported + at ease. Like you’re hanging out in your own best friend’s living room. A space where you don’t feel judged. A space where everyone feels welcome, no matter when the last time you washed your hair was. A space where kiddos can play, learn, develop social skills + achieve developmental milestones.

I hope the good times, good company + even better naps keep you coming back time and time again.
